2007 Patriots Offense vs 2009 Patriots Offense

You've heard the critics talk about the inconsistency of the Patriots offense this year. You've heard them say Tom Brady is "rusty" coming back from his knee injury. You've also heard that the Pats don't have a "championship" running game. But take a look inside the numbers and you'll see that the offense is just fine. They simply need to execute in the Red Zone more often. Look at the numbers below and how the 2009 Offense matches up with the offense from the "Perfect Season" of 2007.

NFL Ranks

                                          2007          2009

Total Points                            1                 3

Total Yards                             1                 2

Passing Yards                         1                 2

Rushing Yards                       13                16

First Downs                             1                 1

Touchdowns                            1                 7

Red Zone Efficiency                  2                26

Tanguay & Zolak Recap Monday 10/26

After the dominating win in London by the Pats, the boys actually took a look at one aspect of the game that could cause concern.  Are fans concerned about this running game?  Can Laurence Maroney carry the load?  Do we want him to?  Also, is this Pats running game good enough to get them to the Super Bowl?

A ton of calls and feedback came in and the majority of fans weren't thrilled with the Maroney draft pick and his production over the past couple of years.  Many fans thought it came down to vision or not running hard enough.  Also, the offensive philosophy came into question and Zo spoke about utilizing a fullback and screens.

Tomorrow on Tanguay and Zolak, we preview the Boston Celtics season and their opener in Cleveland.  Mike Gorman will join us at 10:20 and maybe another surprise or two.  Join us tomorrow for Tanguay and Zolak on 98-5 The Sports Hub from 10a-2pm!

Oh yeah, our NFL picks from last week!

           Week           Season

Tanguay & Zolak Recap Friday 10/23

It was an 80's and Christmas music Friday, with Doc Rivers joining the boys at 10:30 today and gave us plenty to talk about.  According to the coach, Rajon Rondo has been a great teammate this preseason and will be a Celtic for life, Rasheed has been the perfect locker room guy and Marquis Daniels is a difference maker for this team and roster.

Also on the show, Tanguay and Zolak broke down the trip the Pats had to take to London this week and pondered if an NFL team would work in London?  The boys also spoke about the game, as both expect New England to get the job done.  Oh yeah, and this Sunday could be big for Laurence Maroney and Brandon Tate.

Finally, we heard from Nick Cattles with the Fantasy Foreplay and picked some crucial NFL games this weekend.

Join us on Monday when we talk Pats-Bucs and take a look at where this team is heading into the bye.

Tanguay and Zolak Thursday Recap 10/22

The red hot questions throughout the show today were why did the Pats-Denver game do better than the Sox-Angels game three of the ALDS and is this a Sox or Patriots town?  Tons of calls and instant feedbacks weighed in on those topics and it seemed like the Pats won out on this day.

Also on the show, the boys spoke with Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated and the MLB Network about the playoffs, A-Rod, the possible dwindling interest in baseball and Jason Bay.  Heyman wasn't buying that baseball's popularity is dying, but did say that A-Rod has turned his postseason fortunes around this year and has done so quickly.

Chris Mannix, also of Sports Illustrated, displayed his vast knowledge of not only basketball, but all sports, when he spoke about the popularity of the Sox-Pats as well as A-Rod and the Yanks.  Towards the end of the interview, Mannix told us that Rajon Rondo will be a restricted free agent and questioned if we'd trade Steve Nash for the Celtics Point Guard straight up?

Phil Castinetti of Sportsworld also came on and told us that, hands down, Tom Brady is the man for collectibles but that this town is still a Red Sox town.

Tune into Friday's show, when Tanguay and Zolak will talk to Boston Celtics Head Coach Doc Rivers at 10:30am.  Also on the show, we break down Pats-Buccaneers, the trip to London, have our NFL picks, and Nick Cattles checks in with his Fantasy Foreplay.  All that and more, 10a-2pm on The Sports Hub.

Tanguay & Zolak Tuesday Recap 10/20

It was a crazy day of rumors and roster shuffling on NFL Trade Deadline day. Tanguay and Zolak talked about the release of Tully Banta-Cain and Joey Galloway. Bert Breer of The Sporting News  joined us and broke the news that New England also released LB Eric Alexander, but plan on resigning both.

We heard from Banta-Cain as he appeared on NFL Radio last night and he didn't seem too upset about the release. Both Gary and Scott are convinced he's coming back.

There was a fashion emergency on the program today. Show Producer Nick Cattles came in with a 2-in-1 shirt (see below) that had Tanguay & Zolak buzzing. The guys asked you to respond and you came through with great comments via Instant Feedback.

Dan Shaughnessy joined us in studio for the final 2 hours of the show. Dan talked about Mariano Rivera's alleged spit ball from Monday. The guys also talked about the transformation of Arod from postseason bust to boom.

We wrapped up the show by asking the question...does Londaon even care about football?

Coming up Wednesday we're live at the CBS Scene in Foxboro and we'll bring you Bill Belichick & Tom Brady's press conferences live!
